16th February
7.30pm at Callington Town Hall.
Trevithick, Man and Machine- a look at the machines that powered the Industrial Revolution and into the mind of their inventor, dispelling many of the myths. Phil Hosken with the Old Cornwall Society.

24th February
7.30pm at Liskeard Liberal Club.
The Parade, main street next to the book shop. China Clay Railways- by Maurice Dart, a well known author who has just finished his 13th book. If you like trains, then this is the one for you! Refreshments and Bar available.

1st June

Phoenix 100 Exhibition with contemporary
images of the mine; archive plans, sections
and documents.

10th June
Phoenix 100.
A day of events at Minions, Bodmin Moor, in celebration of the centenary of the opening of the Prince of Wales engine house at Phoenix United Mine. The Trevithick Society Marquee will be staging an exhibition of a ‘timeline’ of Phoenix Mine and the Prince of Wales Shaft, which puts the mine and its engine in context with the development of steam engines and mining in the area. There will also be artefacts and drawings representative of the mine and its era.
On site at Minions will be various activities and displays. Distribution of a self guided trail leaflet, relating to this area will be available, as well as many local historians, authors and experts at hand to discuss Phoenix Mine and surrounding locality.
This is an opportunity to have a whole day out at Minions, Bodmin Moor. To explore not only Phoenix, but the other mines in the locality. With tearooms, pub, and shop facilities, there should also be chance to relax after learning and discovering for yourself the richness of mining activity in this area.

Tony Brooks - a well known author, will be giving a talk on Cornish Mining in the First Half of the 20th Century. Details of date/ venue to be confirmed, nearer the time.
