Trenowin Downs China Clay Works

Back to list of clay and brickworks

This site is though to have been prospected and opened up in the early 1870s; it is shown on the first series 25-inch Ordnance Survey map, surveyed in 1875. The pit raised about 200-300 tons of clay annually which was used for potting. The sett is thought to have been given up because the nearby Georgia and Bohemia pits were more profitable.
