Education

The Objectives of the Trevithick Society are to:

  • Research and record information

  • Educate to spread knowledge

  • Preserve and display artefacts

relating to the industrial and technological history of Cornwall and its influence around the world. In the future we hope to be able to provide educational material on this varied subject through our website. Current educational resources are:

Gazetteer of Cornish industrial sites
The life and times of Richard Trevithick

At a suitable point (once they start multiplying!) these links will move to their own page.

Members of the Society have given talks to a large number of different organisations (for a full list see here) about building and operating the Camborne road loco, mining, the production of steam and its historical use in industry and transport.  We believe that these talks can contribute to a number of National Curriculum topics:

Art and design
The story of Cornish industrial history is a very evocative one and this can provide inspiration for both art and design.  In addition a whole range of textures and materials can be utilised.
